Prom Interrupted

The onset of the pandemic brought stress and loss to almost everyone under quarantine. Artists lost exhibitions, extended family members were required to stay separated, businesses closed. Students were no longer allowed to attend school and began an experiment, together with educators, in online learning. Most students are adaptable and will have years of regular school experiences ahead of them. High schoolers however, lost some irreplaceable rights of passage, including their proms. I offered to give kids who would be missing their proms a chance to dress up anyway. I hoped to give them a keepsake of this moment in their lives and make a gesture that would lift spirits during this traditionally exciting, but now complicated time.
